With sincere thanks to all of our family & friends, we are honored to share that we are in the process of becoming a 501C(3) Non-Profit Foundation.
We dedicate our Foundation to our first candidate, Carmela Ocampo, also known as “La”. She is our dearest inspiration. For those that know her, she’s a free spirit who shares her laughter and compassion with everyone! She loves spending time with her family and friends, especially playing with her 4-year old son, Kinsey.
Prior to her diagnosis, she’d volunteer her off time to serving the homeless in missions and on the street. Her passion to help the less fortunate and the courage she shows through her battle with cancer has empowered so many!
“We Heart La” is an organization whose focus is to provide financial assistance to patients diagnosed with life threatening medical conditions.

11/09/12 - Hi Friends and Family!
Thank you to everyone that came out to the last Coconut Bay event!! We are truly amazed by the power of friends and family! With the amazing outpour of raffle goods, auction items, and baked goods and the generosity of Coconut Bay for hosting the event we are proud to say that we raised enough money to cover La’s treatment and medications for a couple of months! With everyones amazing support and a constant love we are able to help La fight this battle!

The fight continues....WE HEART LA
As you can imagine, life for La has changed since she was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. Unfortunately the cancer has not responded well to the chemo treatment, but has caused her to become more ill. What started as Cervical Cancer has spread to her lungs as an aggressively rare type of cancer, Neuroendocrine Small Cell Carcinoma.
The great news is, she has recently been blessed with the opportunity to be treated with the Gene Specific Cancer Therapy at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. But because her medications are not covered by insurance, donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of her treatment. Let us all continue to come together to help her conquer this fight for her life! Once she is healthy, her life will serve as a platform to continue helping other candidates take their lives back as well!
